Peru arrives in the United States with the hope of once again becoming a prominent team in CONMEBOL Copa América™, having reached at least the semifinals in four of the last five editions. Led by Jorge Fossati, they could have an important squad that includes:

The legendary 40-year-old forward, born on January 1, 1984, in Lima, made his debut for the Peruvian national team in 2004. Since then, he has played 118 matches and scored 40 goals, becoming the all-time top scorer for the national team.


Paolo has played in five editions of the tournament (2007, 2011, 2015, 2016, and 2019), being the top scorer in the oldest national team tournament in the world in three of them. During CONMEBOL Copa América United States 2024™, he could break several records.


He also participated in the 2018 FIFA World Cup, playing 3 matches and scoring 1 goal.


At the club level, he has played for Hamburger SV and Bayern Munich (Germany), Corinthians, Flamengo, Internacional, and Avaí FC (Brazil), LDU Quito (Ecuador), Racing (Argentina), and currently plays for César Vallejo in Peru. He’s accumulated 9 titles over his club career, including the Copa Sudamericana, the Recopa Sudamericana, and the Club World Cup.

Luis Advíncula


Born in Ica on March 2, 1990, the defender debuted for the national team in 2010 and has already accumulated over 100 matches with La Bicolor.


Advíncula has played in three editions of the CONMEBOL Copa América™: 2011, 2015, and 2019, when Peru reached the final. He has played 17 matches in the oldest national team tournament in the world.


The defender was also part of the Peruvian national team that played in the 2018 World Cup, ending a 36-year drought. Advíncula started in all three of Peru's matches in Russia.


At the club level, Advíncula's professional career includes stints at SK Tavriya (Ukraine), Hoffenheim (Germany), Ponte Preta (Brazil), Vitória Setúbal (Portugal), Bursaspor (Turkey), Newell's Old Boys (Argentina), Tigres UANL and Lobos BUAP (Mexico), and Rayo Vallecano (Spain). He has won six titles between Sporting Cristal in Peru (2) and Boca Juniors in Argentina (4).



Gallese Copa America 2024

Pedro Gallese


Pedro David Gallese Quiroz was born in Lima on February 23, 1990, and began his journey with the Peruvian national team in 2014.


The following year, he participated in CONMEBOL Copa América™ for the first time, starting a journey that has made him, at 34 years old, the Peruvian goalkeeper with the most appearances in the oldest national team tournament in the world. Besides the 2015 CONMEBOL Copa América™, Gallese played in the 2016, 2019, and 2021 editions, accumulating 23 matches.


During this period, he was also the starting goalkeeper for La Bicolor in all three matches of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.


At the club level, Pedro Gallese has played for Universidad de San Martín de Porres (where he was a champion), Atlético Minero, Juan Aurich, and Alianza Lima (Peru), Tiburones Rojos (Mexico), and currently plays for Orlando City in the United States, where he won the U.S. Open Cup.
