Paraguay experienced a 2024 season with two head coaches and a strong finish that allowed them to secure a spot in the 2026 World Cup qualification zone. The team played 12 matches, recording four wins, four draws, and four losses.

La Albirroja was placed in Group D alongside Brazil, Colombia, and Costa Rica. Daniel Garnero's squad suffered three defeats, exiting the tournament in the Group Stage.

In the World Cup Qualifiers, a new coach changed the team’s fortunes: Paraguay remained unbeaten, tallying three wins and three draws. Historic victories over Argentina and Brazil, as well as a valuable draw at high altitude in El Alto against Bolivia, highlighted the campaign. Paraguay currently sits sixth with 17 points, in a qualification position for the next World Cup.

The Torino striker returned to the national team under Alfaro and scored three crucial goals in the pursuit of World Cup qualification: a brace against Venezuela (2-1) and another goal in the 2-1 victory over Argentina.
