Palmeiras defeated Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito 4-0 in the second leg of the CONMEBOL Libertadores semifinal, overturning the 3-0 deficit from the first leg. As a result, the continental final will once again be between Brazilian teams.
The São Paulo team started Gustavo Gómez and Ramón Sosa, who both featured for Paraguay in the last CONMEBOL Copa América™. The forward scored the first of Palmeiras’ four goals against LDU.
Palmeiras have already won the CONMEBOL Libertadores three times: in 1999, 2020 and 2021, the latter also against Flamengo in the final.
