During the 70th Ordinary Congress of CONMEBOL, on April 10th, the official mascot of the CONMEBOL Copa América Brazil 2019, had a special space and could meet personalities such as FIFA President Gianni Infantino, CONMEBOL President Alejandro Domínguez and the presidents of the member associations of the South American football governing body.
The name of the mascot was voted on by fans in the Facebook and Twitter profiles of the CONMEBOL Copa América and will be announced this Friday at 1 pm, Brasilia time.
In addition, the capybara had a special meeting on Thursday with the symbol of the Brazilian National Team, Canarinho, at the Museum of the Brazilian national team.
A marathonic day had the mascot, when last April 5 was publicly presented in the host country of the oldest tournament in the world. A capibara, also known as capybara, was chosen to represent the tournament and fans from around the world can still vote to choose the name in two votes promoted in the official Facebook and Twitter tournament accounts. Zizito and Capibi are the options.
The sympathetic, roguish and friendly capibara, who also loves football, was made known in the Globo Esporte program of Red Globo. Then, he was invited to the SPORTv channel, also belonging to the Globo Network, and on both occasions, the voting system and the names were explained, so that the fans could participate.
Meanwhile, on the morning of April 6, he toured some of the main beaches of Rio de Janeiro, such as Copacabana, Arpoador and Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas. There he shared with fans and tourists and even took pictures with them.
It was presented that same Saturday, before the more than 46.000 fans who attended the classic between Flamengo and Fluminense, in the semifinal of the Carioca Championship that finished 1-1 at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
