Flamengo became the first finalist of the CONMEBOL Libertadores after defeating Racing Club. The Brazilian side won the first leg 1-0 and drew 0-0 in the return match.
In the second leg, the Rio de Janeiro team started with Giorgian De Arrascaeta, Guillermo Varela (both Uruguayan), Erick Pulgar (Chilean), and Jorge Carrascal (Colombian, who scored the only goal of the series) — all of whom played in the CONMEBOL Copa América 2024™. Uruguayans Nicolás De La Cruz (on the bench, unused) and Matías Viña (not called up), as well as Brazilian Danilo (entered in the second half), also featured in the tournament in the United States.
The Brazilian team reached its fourth final since 2019: champions that year and again in 2022, while they lost the 2021 final to Palmeiras. Flamengo had already been crowned CONMEBOL Libertadores champions in 1981.
The CONMEBOL Libertadores final will be played on November 29 at Estadio Monumental in Lima.
