The new kit the ‘Canarinha’ will debut at the CONMEBOL Copa América Brazil 2019 will be with a white jersey, as they used it 65 years ago. This way they start the competition with the third uniform. In fact, it was a white jersey that Brazil used in the first four editions of the World Cup. The yellow jersey also changed. The one revealed by the brand that dresses the Tite team, makes a reference to the selection of 1989, year in which Brazil also hosted the tournament and managed to retain the title.

“It’s about the white jersey that the team wore when they won the Copa América in 1919, 100 years ago” said Rogério Caboclo, the new president of the CBF.

Uruguay, new jersey to celebrate being the maximum winner of the Cup

On March 15, the brand that dresses the Uruguay National Team announced the new jersey of the ‘Celeste’ and explained that the new design celebrates “the status of La Celeste as the most successful team in South America.” Uruguay is the top winner of the CONMEBOL Copa América, with 15 titles.

The new jersey is still light blue, with bright white on the sides and collar and seems to be looser than the latest designs, which used to be tighter to the body.

This design is similar to what the combined ‘Charrúa’ used in the CONMEBOL Copa América in 1987, which was played in Argentina, and which crowned the Uruguayans as champions.

In the next few days the costumes of the rest of the teams will be known. Wait for the update of this news.
