Brazil and Bolivia reach the top of their groups

    • Brazil is the leader in Group A, just like Bolivia and Colombia, who share the top spot in Group B.

    • Uruguay and Chile won their first matches in this edition of the CONMEBOL Copa América Beach Soccer 2023.

 

The third matchday of the CONMEBOL Copa América 2023 ended with matches that balanced the teams in the groups and left the final decisions for the last two rounds.

Brazil, with six points, leads Group A after their victory over Peru. Meanwhile, Uruguay won their first match in the competition against Ecuador. Argentina, second in the table, had a bye round.

With their win over Colombia, Bolivia shares the top with the 'Cafeteros' in Group B. Chile earned their first three points by defeating Venezuela, and Paraguay was the team that had a bye this round.

 

- Group A –

    • Uruguay 6-5 Ecuador

Uruguay earned their first points in the tournament by defeating Ecuador 6-5 in an intense match that could have gone either way. "La Celeste," with three points, moved ahead of "La Tri" in the standings, who haven't earned any points in their three games played.

The first period ended in a 2-2 draw, with goals from Cedeño and Farías for Ecuador, and two from Santiago Miranda for Uruguay.

"La Celeste" took the lead in the second period with goals from Gastón Laduche and another from Miranda. Jorge Senge pulled one back for Ecuador.

In the final period, "La Tricolor" tied the match with a penalty from Nevarez. Miranda scored the fifth for Uruguay—his fourth goal of the match—while Gonzalo Cazet extended the lead.

Ecuador narrowed the gap with another goal from Cedeño, but it wasn’t enough to draw level.

    • Brazil 8-3 Peru

Brazil thrashed Peru 8-3 on the third matchday and, with a perfect score, is the leader of Group A with six points—one more than Argentina.

The Verdeamarelha led throughout the match, ending the second period at 4-3 and widening the gap in the final part.

It was a day of doubles for the Canarinha, with Zé Lucas, Benjinha, Edson Hulk, and Catarino all scoring twice. Peru’s goals came from Velezmoro, Vidal, and Alcantara.

- Group B –

    • Colombia 2-3 Bolivia

 

"La Verde" won again after suffering a tough loss to Paraguay in the second matchday, beating Colombia 3-2, who had been undefeated with two wins. Both teams now share the lead in Group B with six points.

The 'Cafetera' team took the lead in the first period with a goal by Esleider de Ávila. Dárlon Zarate equalized for Bolivia in the second period.

The match was decided in the final period with goals by Berthy Alpiri and Jhon Hurtado for "La Verde" and one by Morales for Colombia.

    • Chile 4-3 Venezuela

Chile achieved their first victory in the tournament by defeating Venezuela 4-3, who now have two straight losses.

"La Vinotinto" started the match strong with a goal from Ramos, and "La Roja" ended the first period tied thanks to a goal from Papic.

In the second period, Chile took the lead with a goal from Héctor Tobar, but Venezuela leveled the score again with a great goal by José Semprun.

Chile pulled ahead with goals by Benjamín Arce from the penalty spot and Tobar with a bicycle kick. Venezuela responded with a goal from Prado.

- Next Matchday –

The fourth matchday of the CONMEBOL Copa América Beach Soccer 2023 will be played on Wednesday, March 15.

In Group A, the matches will be Brazil vs. Ecuador and Peru vs. Argentina. Uruguay will have a bye this round.

In Group B, it’s Chile vs. Bolivia and Venezuela vs. Paraguay, while Colombia will have a bye.
