- Ecuador reached the Quarterfinals in the tournament held in the United States.
- The Argentine will have his first experience leading a national team.
Sebastián Beccacece is the new coach of Ecuador on the road to the 2026 World Cup, where La Tri is currently fifth, in a qualifying position.
The Argentine arrives to replace Félix Sánchez Bas, who coached Ecuador between 2023 and 2024. At CONMEBOL Copa América 2024™, he managed to advance past the Group Stage in second place in Group B and was eliminated in the Quarterfinals by Argentina (the tournament champion) in a penalty shootout.
Beccacece was an assistant to Sampaoli with the national teams of Chile (with which he won the 2015 CONMEBOL Copa América™) and Argentina. At the club level, he was the head coach of Universidad de Chile, Defensa y Justicia, Independiente, Racing (all from Argentina), and Elche (Spain). He also coached Argentina's U-20 team.
His contract runs until 2030, making him the 11th Argentine coach to manage Ecuador, excluding Eduardo Spandre, who was born in Italy and later became an Argentine national.
