Argentina qualified: the two-time CONMEBOL Copa América™ champion will be at the 2026 World Cup

The draw between Bolivia and Uruguay secured Argentina’s spot in the next World Cup.

  • They have won the last four tournaments they competed in.

Argentina defeated Uruguay 1-0 on Matchday 13 of the South American Qualifiers, reaching 28 points. Before even playing Matchday 14 against Brazil, they secured their qualification for the 2026 World Cup.


The 0-0 draw between Bolivia and Uruguay (Matchday 14) was the result that confirmed Lionel Scaloni’s team’s presence in the next World Cup.


What titles has Argentina won?


Under Scaloni’s management, La Albiceleste has won the last four tournaments they played: the CONMEBOL Copa América 2021™, the Finalissima 2022, the Qatar 2022 World Cup, and the CONMEBOL Copa América 2024™.


With their 2024 triumph, they became the most successful team in CONMEBOL Copa América™ history, with 16 titles.

When and where will the 2026 World Cup take place?


The World Cup will be held from June 11 to July 19, 2026. The tournament will take place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.


How many CONMEBOL teams qualify for the World Cup?


Besides Argentina, five more teams will qualify directly for the World Cup. A seventh team will play in an intercontinental playoff.
